During this workshop, examine paintings, decorative art, costumes and fashion accessories, posters, photographs, and sculptures that recall the splendor of the French capital at the time of the Paris International Exposition, when it heralded the arrival of the twentieth century. Participate in a gallery tour and studio activities, receive teaching materials, and discuss STEAM curriculum connections. In the morning, enjoy a presentation by Patricia Ward, professor emerita of French and comparative literature at Vanderbilt University, on the evolution of Paris. After lunch, create polyester plate lithographs with mixed-media artist Lesley Patterson-Marx, with prints of the era as your inspiration.
